Position Summary:
Responsible to develop styles working with merchandising, design, and product development teams to ensure that quality fit, desired appearance, and company quality standards are met and maintained, including managing all aspects of technical garment specification development and technical fit comment, correspondence to both domestic and overseas vendors, meeting calendar deadlines for all phases of the product development life cycle, coordinating and prioritizing the flow of work for each book drop to meet required deadlines for first fit, photo sample, and on-time production fit approvals to meet delivery dates, and meeting return rate goals and objectives for fit and construction reasons, following established policies, procedures, practices, requirements, and standards.
Essential Position Responsibilities:
· Determine and validate garment specifications including garment measurements, size grading, construction details,
technical sketches, label placements, packing requirements, and care label test review for appropriate care label approval.
· Draw detailed sketches to communicate style construction details, and review pattern trace offs, and advise fit
comment corrections needed for ideal fit/construction.
· Fit garments on live model and/or fit form for to optimize fit standards.
· Delineate production grading of specifications for desired size ranges, Missy/Petite/Women’s sizes, for both alpha and
numeric grades.
· Recommend corrective actions and approaches to assist in solving quality assurance issues to maximize product investments.
· Review styles for fit and construction details for pre-production, pre-shipment, and top of production samples.
· Communicate with domestic and international vendors regarding product specification and process issues.
· Attend product development meetings as requested.
· Organize, maintain, and purge samples, including from sample library.
· Travel, both domestically and internationally, to vendor and representative sites to assist in achieving product development
and acquisition efforts as requested.
· Additional responsibilities will be assigned based on business needs.
· Be willing to work on special projects as needed to help meet or achieve desired company goals and objectives.
Essential Requirements:
· Minimum of one (1) to two (2) years of related experience
· Experience with both woven and knit background.
· Bachelor Degree in Design, Art, or related field.
· Interests in a career in apparel design a must.
· Strong knowledge and skill in sketching.
· Knowledge of Garment technical fit and construction.
· Strong working knowledge with PC including the MS Office Suite.
· Requires familiarity with fabrics & trims used for Women’s Sportswear.
· Minimum of 3-5 years Production Grading Experience.
· Computer experience with Mozart or similar query reporting system.
· Web PDM experience a plus.
· Must be detail oriented with strong written and verbal communication skills.
· Possess good problem solving abilities.
· Must be a self-starter, able to work independently, but work as a team in a team environment, striving to achieve
both department and company goals and objectives.
