Senior Tax Accountant

Position Summary:
Examines accounts and records and computes taxes owed according to prescribed rates, laws, and regulations. Advises management regarding effects of business activities on taxes, and on strategies for minimizing tax liability. Ensures that brands comply with periodic tax payment, information reporting, and other taxing authority requirements. Represents principal before taxing bodies. Specializes in various aspects of tax accounting.
Essential Position Responsibilities:
Tax Accounting:
· Identify, analyze, and document book to tax accounting differences.
· Assist in calculation of income tax projections and provision for financial statement purposes.
· Provide support to other functional areas to promote an awareness of tax issues, and assist with forecasting activities.
· Assist in the completion of accounting research in support of all companies in the group.
· Provide analytical support to all areas of the business.
· Analyze and present recommendations on various special projects.
Tax Compliance:
· Calculate and prepare federal quarterly estimated tax payments.
· Calculate and prepare state quarterly estimated tax payments.
· Generate workpaper packages to support the preparation of tax returns.
· Assist in research and response to audit inquiries and tax notices.
· Develop internal relationships to support the tax department ability to respond to internal information requests and participate in
company-wide initiatives.
· Establish and maintain interdepartmental communications to identify business trends and tax opportunities.
Essential Requirements:
· Bachelors degree in accounting or finance; MBA and/or CPA is a plus.
· Minimum 3 – 5 years of experience in a tax department or Big 4.
· Demonstrate a strong working knowledge of FAS 109.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills.
· Proven efficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint). Experience with Infinium and SAP financial systems a
plus.
· Thorough understanding of internal accounting controls.
· Strong knowledge of Generally Acceptable Accounting Practices.
· Knowledge of commonly used concepts, functions, practices, and procedures within the accounting function.
· Exposure to multi-brand, multi-unit corporate finance.
· Ability to communicate clearly and work positively with others to reach a common goal.
· Demonstrated ability to manage tight deadlines and prioritize workloads with a high degree of accuracy and minimal
supervision in a fast paced environment.
· Ability to interpret data and provide relevant conclusions and recommendations.
· Excellent organizational skills.
· Experience in a direct marketer and retail environment a plus.
· Self-starter with a take charge attitude.
