Position Summary:

Desktop Technician is responsible for the configuration, deployment and repair of all Windows based microcomputers, printers and associated peripherals.

 

Essential Position Responsibilities:

 

  • Deploy, maintain and repair Windows Desktop microcomputers, printers and peripherals
  • Perform all lease replacement on expiring microcomputers to keep all lease agreements current
  • Installation and support of all Enterprise Applications
  • Create, modify and update all documentation as it pertains to Desktop Technician 1
  • Inspects personal computer equipment and reads order sheet listing user requirements to prepare microcomputer for delivery
  • Installs or assists service personnel in installation of hardware and peripheral components such as monitors, keyboards, printers, and disk drives
  • Responds to client inquiries concerning systems operation and diagnoses system hardware, software, and operator problems
  • Instructs users in use of equipment, software, and manuals
  • Recommends or performs minor remedial actions to correct problems
  • Coordinates activities with help desk, network services, or other information systems groups
  • Provides updates, status, and completion information to manager, problem request tracking system, and/or users, via voice mail, e-mail, or in-person communication
  • Replaces defective or inadequate software packages
  • Refers major hardware problems to service personnel for correction

 

Essential Requirements:

  • Two year certificate from college or technical school; or related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 1-3 years of Desktop support experience
  • Must have a working knowledge of networking, distributed computing hardware and software
  • Be able to utilize network tools to perform daily operations
  • Must be able to configure and troubleshoot all Enterprise applications
  • Must be a motivated and enthusiastic self-starter who understands the importance of maintaining a positive outlook
  • Collaboration with the IT community and the end uses is essential
  • Should have the highest regard for attention to detail and the ability to review own work for accuracy and format
