Accounting Manager

Position Summary:

Responsible to interact with Orchard Brands management and Operating Company, and coach, develop, and lead a team engaged in general accounting activities and sales audit functions of the organization, including analyzing and interpreting financial data, recommending changes to improve systems and financial performance, and leading the integration and implementation of new financial systems with existing systems, following established policies, procedures, practices, requirements, and standards.

Essential Position Responsibilities:

• Direct a staff to manage financial functions and processes, such as monthly close and reporting,  and cash requirements
• Recruit and develop the existing team with a focus on their individual growth and accomplishment
• Establish and maintain effective communication and coordination with company personnel, departments, and management
• Manage the preparation, recording, maintenance, reporting, and presentation, in accordance with US GAAP, all internal financial reporting
• Ensure that all retail store accounting is completed accurately and timely, including monthly reporting, and daily sales audit
• Ensure that adequate internal controls are in place to safeguard company assets through standardized accounting policies and procedures, separation of duties, and use of management information systems and controls
• Coordinate information requests from investment group and ensure timely responses 
• Some travel required to the Business Unit locations
• Responsible to hire staff and personnel, participate in and recommend employee and personnel development measures and disciplinary actions, to evaluate personnel performance, and to recommend or terminate personnel following established organizational policies, procedures, and practices
• This position will initially have 1-3 direct reports and 1 or 2 indirect reports

Essential Requirements:

• Substantive track record (minimum eight years) in relevant accounting positions, including a minimum of 3 years’ public accounting experience with one of the major international accounting firms
• Prior experience coaching, developing, and leading a team of at least 2 members
• Industry relevant experience
• Requires a Bachelor degree with superior academic credentials, including a CPA
• Current and extensive understanding of generally accepted accounting principles is required
• Exceptional PC and spreadsheet skills a must
• An MBA is desired
• Experience in retail a plus
• Analytical and intellectual aptitude
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• High tolerance for ambiguity, ability to render technical judgments on complex issues
